2nd OUTREACH WEDNESDAY NIGHT SUPPER

Thank you so much to everyone who supported the dinner for the homeless put on by Mittineague and 1st United Church.  We had 6 people from our congregation who gave of their time to go down to 1st United Methodist Church and help prepare, serve and clean up. Including to-go meals we served about 100 meals.  It was a great success and the people were so appreciative of the mac, cheese & ham casserole, green beans & applesauce. The big hit of the evening was the homemade Bread Pudding for dessert. Everyone raved about it.

Next date for our newly formed congregation to participate is Oct. 6th.  Meals are suspended during the summer but we will be participating in a Community Picnic sometime in July. Speak to Gail Barnes, Barbara Bolster, Terry Rogers, or Claire Carocci if you wish to participate. As time draws near we will see what we need for food.

Thanks again for supporting this worthwhile mission.

From the Nuture, Outreach and Witness Teams:

“Take A Can, Leave A Can” Pantry

Recent discussions during our meetings have brought up our need to help each other out during hard times.  Many are struggling between paychecks, so we have decided to start a food pantry in the Narthex for anyone using our building.  We will be sharing our non-perishable food donations between our own “pantry” and the Parish Cupboard.  There is a shelving unit in the coat rack area with items available if you or anyone you know has a need.  The intent is to reach out to those who might have needs, when the Parish Cupboard is closed.  Please feel free to “take or leave” a donation.  Also, don’t forget our “four legged” friends, who may be hungry.  If you have any questions, please feel free to talk with Dave or Barbara Bolster .

It only takes a little bit to help someone!

Open Pantry—Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen

We serve Springfield hot dish...we need 10 lbs. hamburg, 10 lbs macaroni and 10lbs tomatoes/tomato sauce.  For Parish Cupboard, we serve cold tuna/macaroni vegetable salad.  We need tuna fish, fresh vegetables and macaroni.
