ADVOCATES FOR INCLUSIVENESS

Focus: To educate individuals on the acceptance of all persons in the church body regardless of sexual orientation.

Goal: To establish Mittineague United Methodist Church as a reconciling congregation and making this known to the public. Also, to be a church that is there to help anyone who feels "lost" on their Christian journey and to welcome ALL who enter through their doors.

This group is open to anyone and everyone. Materials are provided for an in-depth study on reconciliation and what this term means when applied to the Advocates for Inclusiveness group. The group focuses on what we can do to learn how to be openly accepting of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered individuals into our church family, what it means to become a reconciling congregation and how to make this happen in our own church with using the Bible as our guide and Jesus Christ as our teacher. (The Reconciling Ministries Network and Affirmation are also used as resources.) The group will also focus on helping those in need who may have questions or concerns on justice issues. They can be reached via email at mumcadvocates@yahoo.com.

The Advocates for Inclusivness Group is held the second Tuesday of every month from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Ladies Parlor (no meetings June - August).

ALL ARE WELCOME!
